Once out of mainstream support the Skype for Business server will cease to receive updates beyond security critical updates, and when out of extended support customers may continue to operate on-premises at their own risk. The Skype for Business server is also approaching end of life, with mainstream support ceasing January 2024 and extended support ceasing October 2025. Depending on your IT environment, you may face business risks when the shutdown occurs, specifically in terms of how your services are delivered and with regards to calling functionality which will cease to operate. After the scheduled shutdown date, Skype for Business Online users will no longer be assigned licenses and must use Teams-only mode. ![]() On JSkype for Business Online will be retired, and existing customers are being urged to plan their migration to Microsoft Teams. ![]()
